The VERY Popular Harvard Professor Theoharis C. Theoharis is coming to the Amherst Town Library! This two-part series on Shakespeare's Sonnets (Part 1 on Friday, February 1 and Part 2 on Friday, February 15) will include the close reading of chosen sonnets and concentrate on love as an experience and love as an idea. The two part series is connected in content, but you are welcome to attend one or both. There is no required reading, yet you are welcome to check out one of the many collections of Shakespeare's Sonnets that will be on display at the Library beginning Friday, January 18.
Theoharis has taught at Berkeley, MIT, and since 1985 at Harvard, where he is now an Associate in the Department of Comparative Literature. All three universities have honored him with their highest undergraduate teaching awards. He has lectured widely in the United States and Europe.
As Norma Fink of the Amaranth Society says, 'Theo has led our literature group for 20 years. To every meeting he has brought great intelligence and breadth of knowledge, along with wit and charm. Anyone having the good fortune to study with him will find riches galore.' |
