Quartet San Francisco starts the New Year off with a bang! With its combination of string instruments and agility, and the standout virtuosic playing of Jeremy Cohen and Alisa Rose, violinists; Keith Lawrence, violist; and Michelle Djokic, cellist, their attitude is 'When the music says swing, we swing. When the music says groove, we groove.' As crossover specialists they excel in multiple styles—from jazz to tango, pop to funk, blues to bluegrass, gypsy swing to big band and beyond.

Since its concert debut in 2001, QSF has offered its exclusive and groundbreaking literature to local, national and international audiences in a variety of venues that include tango and concert halls, jazz festivals, museums, and colleges and universities throughout the country.  In 2002 their Latin and tango CD, Látigo (ViolinJazz Recordings, 2006), was honored with Grammy nominations for Best Classical Crossover and Best Engineered, Classical. The following year, Whirled Chamber Music, with its intriguing mix of blues, funk, jazz, tango, and rock, scored the quartet another Grammy nomination for Best Classical Crossover.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the release of Time Out, QSF pays tribute to the mastery of Dave Brubeck with the first-ever all Brubeck string quartet CD, QSF Plays Brubeck, with selections such as Blue Rondo, A La Turk, Take Five, and Unsquare Dance and arrangements by Jeremy Cohen, Matt Brubeck, Larry Dunlap, and Robert Gilmore.  QSF  received two Grammy nominations on 12/2/09 for this CD, on for the Classical Crossover category and one for Best Engineered Classical CD.  It is the group's third consecutive Best Album nomination. Click http://www.quartetsanfrancisco.com/qsfo_cd_brubeck.html to listen!
