WLA - Author Talk: Elaine Weiss - Fruits of Victory
Thursday March 18, 2010
7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Brubeck Room
Celebrate Women's History Month with a discussion with Elaine F. Weiss, author of Fruits of Victory - The Woman's Land Army of America in the Great War. Imagine a spunkier, and more controversial, Rosie the Riveter--a generation older, and more outlandish for her time. She is the 'farmerette' of the Woman's Land Army of America, doing a man's job, in military-style uniform, on the rural home front during WWI. For ninety years the farmerette has been lost, totally and inexplicably forgotten, wiped from the national memory. Her story has never before been told ... until now. Elaine Weiss brings the lost story of the farmerette back to American history.

No charge. The evening is made possible by the Betsy and Jesse Fink Foundation for Wilton Library's Environmental Initiative. Registration recommended. To register, please call 203-762-3950 or visit www.wiltonlibrary.org/events. Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton.
