Let's talk Turkey!  Join Dr. Craig Brandt, a Reading resident with lifelong experience in military, government, academic and diplomatic affairs, as he presents a photo tour of this fascinating country that straddles two continents.  Craig will take us to Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia and other areas of this culturally diverse nation.  (Coffee & refreshments begin at 9:30 a.m.)

Margaret Soli will lead a discussion of the nonfiction title,  An Edible History of Humanity by Tom Standage. Copies of this title will be available at the Library Circulation Desk. This program is free and no registration is necessary.

Join the fun!!! The Not-Too-Stuffy Book Club meets in the Lounge at the Senior Center from 1-2 p.m.. Foreign Affairs Discussion series.  Dr. Craig Brandt will lead a 7-part discussion series focusing on U.S. foreign policy.  The topics are:  Afghanistan/Pakistan; Israel/Palestine; Energy & the global economy; Global food supply; U.S. and rising powers; The Arctic; and Egypt in the 21st century.  Reading material for each session will be provided.  A fee for materials ($20) is payable at the first session.  Pre-registration is required by September 11.

LiveWires Presents: Boston Law & Order with David Kruh.

Similar to the popular Law & Order television series, local author David Kruh will bring Law & Order to Boston by looking at three high-profile cases from three eras of the city's history: the Boston Massacre, the Parkman Murder, and the Boston Strangler.  With this slide show, he will present each crime, follow each investigation, and wind up in court
where each case will be argued and the verdict rendered.  Join us for this unique presentation.
