Cary Memorial Library Presents Mitch Zuckoff, Best-Selling Author of Lost in Shangri-La   Link to related url for more information
Near the end of World War II, a plane carrying 24 members of the United States military, crashed into the New Guinea jungle during a sightseeing excursion. 21 men and women were killed. The three survivors--a beautiful WAC, a young lieutenant who lost his twin brother in the crash, and a severely injured sergeant--were stranded deep in a jungle valley notorious for its cannibalistic tribes. They had no food, little water, and no way to contact their military base. The incredible true story of their survival and the stunning efforts undertaken to save them is a 'thrill ride from beginning to end!'

Mitchell Zuckoff is a professor of journalism at Boston University.  His articles have appeared in the New Yorker, Fortune and other national and regional publications.  He is a former special projects reporter for the Boston Globe, where he was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for investigative reporting.

Susan G. Komen Boston 3-Day for the Cure
Description for online Events Calendar:
The Susan G. Komen Boston 3-Day for the Cure is a 60 mile, three day walk from July 27-29, 2012. Net proceeds from the 3-Day for the Cure fund innovative global breast cancer research and local community programs supporting education, screening and treatment. Virtually every major advance in the fight against breast cancer in the last 28 years has been impacted by a Komen for the Cure grant.

Whether you are new to the 3-Day or an old pro, your journey begins here at a Get Started Meeting. A Get Started Meeting will provide you with the information and inspiration you are looking for. At the meeting, you can get your questions answered and meet other 3-Day walkers and crew members. Please RSVP for our Get Started Meeting at www.The3Day.org or by calling 800.996.3329.
