decorative image  A Basic Introduction to Pakistan by Groton Resident Shua Khan Arshad

All are welcomed to Ms. Arshad's basic introduction to Pakistan in which she will include her some of her personal experiences and observations. Born in Saudi Arabi, Ms. Arshad later lived in Pakistan and attended school there for several years, before coming to the United States where she graduated from Rutgers State University. Ms. Arshad, also an avid cook, will serve Pakistani refreshments.

This program is free and open to the public. Registration is requested, but not required. Register online or call the library at 978-448-8000.

decorative image  'Passage from Freudenberg' by Groton Resident Emil Rechsteiner 
Groton resident Emil Rechsteiner will speak on his memoir, 'Passage from Freudenberg: Through the Thirties, to the New World and Beyond 9/11.' Mr. Rechsteiner brings to life his early years growing up in Freudenberg, Switzerland in the 1930s as he sets the stage for his memoir, which his sons asked him to write. Copies of the memoir will be available for sale and signing.

Free and open to the public. Registration requested but not required. Light refreshments will be served.

GPL’s Young Adult Advisory Council (YAAC) is made up of teens who assist and support Young Adult Services. Members plan and promote exciting programs, and discuss books, movies, music and web sites! Confessions of a Shopaholic is based on the book by Sophie Kinsella. Rebecca Bloomwood is 25 years old and lives with her best friend Suze in a trendy part of town. She has a boring job that doesn’t begin to pay for her shopping addiction. When cutting back doesn’t work, she tries to make more money and, ironically, becomes a financial advice columnist in this comedy. MPAA rated PG.

For young adults in Grades 6-12.
