Pass provides free admission for up to 2 adults and 2 children.
Passes may be reserved and charged out only by adult library card holders. Passes can be picked up the day before use, and must be returned to the Library by 10 a.m. the morning the pass is due (usually the next morning). The pass may be placed in the Book-Drop or returned directly to the Information Services desk. Thank you.
As Connecticut’s original state capitol from 1797 to 1873, the historically-restored Old State House is regarded as one of the oldest remaining state houses in the nation. Explore the home of Connecticut’s early state government, including restored legislative chambers, executive branch offices, and courtroom with interactive tours that lets you experience this historic landmark on your own, or with one of our experienced guides. Visit the Joseph Steward Museum of Curiosities, or try "History Is All Around Us" located in the Mortensen Gallery. Children can take their own tour using the special backpack activity, offered at no additional charge. Dress-up stations for children, discovery trunks full of hours of fun and more are also available.The Old State House is walking distance to the Wadsworth Atheneum and the Science Center.
Hours: Following Columbus Day weekend to July 4th holiday: Open Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Last ticket sold at 4 p.m. Following July 4th holiday through Columbus Day weekend: Open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Last ticket sold at 4 p.m. Closed Sundays. Closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Parking is available in two nearby garages. Bring your garage ticket to the Old State House to be stamped, and pay only $5 to park for the entire day.
