Summer Reading Program Management

The Summer Reading Program Manager, srp.Insight, provides a comprehensive system which allows the staff to define, configure, manage, and maintain web based Reading Programs for participants of all ages. Reading Programs are not limited to the summer, programs can be created and offered all year round. These reading programs can be created for a single location library or a multiple branch library or a full county wide system.

Through the library's web site srp.Insight allows patrons to Sign Up for reading programs, enter titles, record the number of whole books read or minutes read or pages read, answer questions about their reading, review and reserve prizes at various levels of reading achievement and print certificates of participations with book jacket images of their reading. There are lists of recommended titles available to participants with links to the books' catalog entry.

The system supports a Read-to-Me program where an adult can sign up multiple pre-readers and record their reading collectively. This is great for a parent with multiple pre-readers or for pre-school teachers who want to enroll their whole class.

English and Spanish Capable
Participants can use either an English or Spanish version, with all help, screen messages, prompts, etc. fully in English or Spanish.

Reading Program Creation
The staff follows a simple Step by Step Guide to setup a reading program. The system provides a simple set of screens for the staff to define the programs in terms of number of titles, general guidelines for title selection, definition of levels of achievement, prizes, etc.  Multiple Reading Programs can be offered simultaneously, so children, young adult and adult reading programs can be offered with little staff effort, but maximum staff oversight and involvement.

Color schemes, graphic images, prize graphics and other decorative elements can be easily added to each reading program, including the use of individual Cascading Style Sheets for each program if desired.

There is a staff participation feature which allows the staff to enroll in a program, just as a participant, during the development and before the program goes live. This gives the staff the opportunity to see exactly what the participants will see once the program becomes available.

Statistics
srp.Insight provides several statistical reports based on branch location, school and grade of participants, number of books read (or pages, minutes, inches, ounces or pounds read!). Number of participants at each level of achievement, and how many signed up but did not participate. At the end of the program the reports can be printed out all the statistics can be down loaded into a spread sheet formatted file for future analysis.

The staff can communicate via email with participants in aggregate at each level of reading achievement or individually
