The Caldecott Medal is awarded each January to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.  It is granted by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.

 

The 2010 winner is The Lion and the Mouse illustrated and written by Jerry Pinkney.

There are also two Honor Books for 2010 illustrated by Marla Frazee and by Pamela Zagarenski.

Each year a panel of Connecticut Librarians nominates 10 books for students in grades 4 - 6.  These are well recommended books chosen for this age group of students.  In January 2011 students will be able to vote and select the title that they would like to receive the "2011 Connecticut Nutmeg Award".  Click on a title that interests you and you will be connected to our library catalog
